2 neophyte dads ask Duterte to expand coverage of 911

TWO young councilors from Davao City's third congressional district have asked Mayor Rodrigo R. Duterte to expand the 911 program and establish sub-stations in the second and third districts.

In a joint resolution, lawyer-councilors Karlo S. Bello and Rachel P. Zozobrado lauded the "Rescue 911" of Mayor Duterte for having "greatly benefited inhabitants of Davao City and helps in lessening, eliminating or preventing harm, peril or dangers towards life or limb to a large extent of the populace."

The central office of the Rescue 911 program is located in the 1st District, where ambulances, paramedics or emergency response teams are based. All the 10 ambulance units would still come from the central office no matter how far the requests for assistance are coming from.

"If a number of the ambulance units and personnel are also stationed in the second and third districts, response time will be shorter and crucial especially for matter of life-and-death cases," Bello said.

The 2nd and 3rd districts of the city comprise far flung barangays that have limited access to transportation and medical facilities, thus the need for the deployment of medical teams in the area that can respond quickly when the need arises. (GLP)
