City cops reminded to be protectors, not spectators
By Carlo P. Mallo

DAVAO City Police Office director Jaime Morente said the instructions of acting Mayor Sara “Inday” Zimmerman Duterte was a reminder that they will take.

Sara reminded the police force last Monday that the police should be watching and guarding the people, not watching the entertainers on stage.

"She (Inday Sara) simply wanted to remind us of the importance of security," Morente said Thursday.

He added that he has already reminded the police that they are deployed to secure the people and not to become spectators themselves.

Morente said it is one of the sacrifices that a policeman must make when he enters the police force.

He said on special events such as the Kadayawan, the police must work to ensure the security of the people.

The police are usually at work especially on days that the community is engaged in merry-making. The entire force of the Davao City Police Office will be deployed during the Kadayawan festivities over the weekend.
