City's newest park opens
By Grace L. Plata

DAVAO City's newest park, which has yet to be named, was officially opened Friday in time for the Kadayawan festivities that will be concluded Sunday.

With its opening, a competition to let Dabawenyos help in naming the park was also launched.

Updates on the Kadayawan Festival 2007

This after Davao City Mayor Rodrigo R. Duterte promised to give P50,000 to anyone who can come up with the best name for the newly constructed theme park at the former PTA grounds.

Duterte earlier said he would like Dabawenyos to get involved in choosing the name for the park so it would become a citywide effort.

For now, the new park is simply called as "The Park," but Duterte said he wants a more suitable name for the multi-million theme park that will surely become the next landmark in the city.

Duterte said to come up with the appropriate name for the park is for one to trace its history.
