Army finds rebel camp in Toril
By Carlo P. Mallo and Ben O. Tesiorna

THE military found what is believed to be a training camp of the New People's Army at sitio Magsaysay in Barangay Catigan, Toril District after a firefight with the rebels, Monday morning.

In an interview Tuesday, Lt. Col. Alexander Ambal, commanding officer of the 73rd Infantry Battalion, said the training facility was discovered around 200 meters from the encounter site. He said there were about 15 makeshift beds and a set of bleachers.

The patrol in the area was conducted following reports that the rebels have set up camp in the area.

The soldiers met around 30 rebels led by one Ka Bobby, resulting to the firefight in Sitio Merco, Barangay Baracatan.

The firefight lasted for few minutes after which the rebels under Ka Bobby of the Front Committee 51 withdrew. Trails of blood were reportedly seen in the encounter site. But there was no body count. No one was also injured on the government side.
