Dalumpines, Hernane heavy favorites in Kadayawan tablenet

DAVAO City's veteran player Michael Dalumpines of the Philippine Air Force (PAF) and Cagayan de Oro's Dario Hernane are the heavy favorites in the men's open singles event of the Mayor Rodrigo R. Duterte 22nd Kadayawan Sports Festival Table Tennis Tournament at the S.I.R. Elementary School set Saturday and Sunday.

Davao will also lean on Jacqueline Caragao in the women's open singles while Dabawenyos Gil Ablanque, a two-time Palarong Pambansa gold medalist, and Lyndell Sellado are must-see players in 14 years and under boys and singles events. Games will start at 1 p.m. Saturday.

The men's singles champion will win P3,000 cash while the next two placers will receive P2,000 and P1,000. The women's champion will pocket P2,000 while P1,500 will go to the runner-up and P1,000 to the third placer.

The first three winners of the 14-under categories will take home P1,500, P1,000 and P750 each.

The men's singles class B champion will clinch a gold medal while the second placer will get a silver and a bronze for the third placer.

The tournament is officiated by the Metro Davao Table Tennis Association (Medatta) and sanctioned by the Table Tennis Association of the Philippines (Tatap) under regional director city councilor Peter Laviña. (MLSA)
