GENERAL SANTOS CITY -- A sex video spreading through mobile phones that supposedly involved two City Hall employees here is reportedly a recycled pornographic video circulating in the Internet, and did not actually take place in the city as it was made to appear, a City Hall official said.
Ernesto Quisay, City Mayor's Office chief of staff, said their evaluation showed that the supposed sex video entitled "GenSan City Hall scandal" was actually a cut from a video clip of an alleged sex scandal that reportedly happened at a beach resort in the Boracay Island in Aklan.
"We compared the two video clips and it's quite obvious that they're the same but the other one was only subtitled as an alleged sex scandal that happened here," Quisay told reporters.
The supposed City Hall sex scandal -- the third that came out since last year -- triggered some controversy after a local radio station picked up the story and highlighted it in several radio shows last week.
Last year, two separate sex videos supposedly involving college students from the city also triggered a stir among residents prompting the City Council to conduct an inquiry.
The new sex video supposedly involved two City Hall employees but not one among the City Government's employees reportedly matched the features of those involved in the alleged scandal based on the photo gallery of City Hall workers being kept by the city's human resources and development office.
Quisay said they still have no idea where the supposed sex video had originated, but that he suspected it may have come from the hundreds of sex videos that have been spreading in the Internet.
He said some people may picked one of the videos, manipulated it so it would appear as something that happened at the City Hall here and then circulated it through mobile phones.
"This is a very unfortunate matter. The government should take this issue seriously and try to trace those who are behind this mess," he said.
Quisay scored the media outfits for highlighting the supposed sex scandal, saying they should have first checked its veracity.
He urged residents and the media to put a closure to the matter to stop it from further damaging the city's name and the reputation of the City Hall employees.
Vice Mayor Florentina Congson and City Council members, who immediately denounced the supposed sex video, urged cellphone owners to help end such scandal by refraining from spreading the material. (AVE of Sun.Star General Santos)
