Foreign, gospel songs banned at PTA park
By Ben O. Tesiorna

IF ONE enjoys listening to foreign and gospel songs, well the newly constructed PTA Park is not the right place for you.

Songs that are not purely Pinoy as well as songs that have something to do with religion are banned from being played in public parks, like the PTA.

Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte said government-owned public parks are constructed with the Filipino people's money, thus only Filipino songs deserve to be played inside.

As to gospel songs, Duterte said public parks are open to all regardless of belief and religion. Playing gospel and Christian songs might offend others who are not of the same religion, thus the ban as well.

The mayor said he wants only Pinoy songs and native songs to be played inside the public parks especially on the park's pipe-in system.

Duterte denied that his decision stemmed from his hate for America. He admitted falling in love and singing American songs, like the famous MacArthur Park.
