Gabi wants to meet Piñol

DIOSDADO "Prince" Gabi is reportedly planning to meet North Cotabato Vice Governor Manny Piñol and apologize to him personally in due time to once and for all settle their differences.

Gabi's wife Eva Joy, who is six months pregnant, had sent feelers to Piñol asking for an audience with the vice governor.

Joy is a former employee of Piñol when he was still the governor of North Cotabato.

Piñol had filed a complaint against Gabi in 2005 before the Municipal Trial Court in Cities Branch 2. Piñol is asking for P4.8 million from the boxer whom the politician said, duped him and reneged from their contract.

Gabi was one of the five Filipino boxers who won their bouts as the Philippines beat Mexico and captured the Boxing World Cup last August 11 in Sacramento, California.

When Gabi returned home to Davao recently following his ring exploits in America, police officers served the warrant of arrest against the boxer at his home in Barangay Lasang, Bunawan District.

Gabi posted a P5,000 bail for his temporary liberty and hired Davao City Councilor Diosdado A. Mahipus as his lawyer in the case. An arraignment has been set for Aug. 30 before Judge Antonia Escovilla at the b Municipal Trial Court in Cities Branch 2.

The boxer had earlier apologized to Piñol through the media, but his family are now moving heaven and earth to meet the vice governor with the hope of ending their dilemma. (CRAM)
