Eden Resort lures Korean honeymooners in WeddEx '07

EDEN Nature Park and Resort, one of the country's premier tourist and nature destinations, joined some of the country's top hotels, resorts, spas, airlines and other allied tourism service establishments in the 2007 Wedding Exhibition (WeddEx) Korea Expo held last August 11 to 15 at the Convention and Exhibition Center in Seoul, Korea.

The WeddEx is the largest scale wedding related exhibition in Korea, with the longest history and the most visitors, registering 70,000 visitors last year.

The exhibit showcased the Philippines as a perfect tropical paradise for honeymooners.

Along with Eden Nature Park and Resort, Asian Spirit, Boracay Regency Beach Resort, Mandala Spa and Villas, Plantation Bay, Dos Palmas Island Resort, Patio Pacific Boracay, El Nido Resorts, Club Paradise and SEA Air also participated in the expo.

The Department of Tourism is promoting the country as a multi-dimensional destination catering to the wide spectrum of the Korean outbound market.

The participation of Philippines, spearheaded by the Department of Tourism, reinforced the country's positioning as a prime wedding and honeymoon destination in the region. According to the DOT figures, honeymooners account for some 15 percent or 1.7 million of Korea's total outbound market of 11.6 million.

This market segment, mostly belonging to the 31-40 age bracket, is expected to increase as the Korean government is now providing incentives for its citizens to get married in a bid to head off the rise of an ageing population in the next 20 years.

According to JP Sho, editor of the WeddEx Daily and concurrent publisher of the Travel Press said that the Philippines has once again enhanced its profile maximizing its sales promotion and demonstrating the marketability of its popular honeymoon destinations, namely Cebu, Davao and Amanpulo, among others, with its participation in the WeddEx.

Eden Nature Park and Resort, the only participating resort from Mindanao, is an 80 hectare tourism estate with 58 standard rooms and cottages, 5 family cottages and 25 tents for camping. It also has world-class restaurant, convention, and recreation facilities.
