The suspect identified as Leo Jaime Sabrido, 53, was charged based on the affidavit executed by the victim, Jermaine Simbahon, 32, a resident of 31-1 Pioneer street, Davao City.

In an affidavit, Simbahon said she was on the second floor of their house afternoon of August 22 when she heard a commotion downstairs.

She went down to check and saw her father and her sister fighting over the unpaid power bill, which she said, was a regular occurrence in their house.

As the two shouted at each other, she went near to tell them to hush up. But instead of calming down, her father vented his anger at her.

She said her father got an empty beer bottle and smashed this on her face causing her to lose consciousness and fall to the floor.

As she struggled to wake up, she saw her father about to stab her with the broken bottle but was stopped by her husband.

It was her other sister who brought her to the San Pedro Hospital.

The suspect remains at large.
