"The volume of stocks we get from our supplier is still the same -- that is 60 to 70 kilos of hog a week. Demand for pork is not that high compared to chicken," Dominador Budiongan, a Matina Meatshop employee, told Sun.Star Davao.
Budiongan said special ribs cost P120 per kilo, while the ordinary ribs cost P80 per kilo. Adobo cut, on the other hand, is pegged at P140; menudo cut at P143; pierna, P132; pork chop at P145; liempo, P145; lomo at P145; huckfeet costs P75; nuckle at P95; and pork tail at P105 per kilo.
Budiongan said their prices are much lower compared to other meat shops in the city.
"Even for prices of chicken, we are lower compared to other meat shops, prices of chicken at other meat shops cost P124 for retail," Budiongan said.
He, however, said prices of pork will likewise increase during the holiday season following the increase in the demand for meat.
"Demand in chicken is higher than pork in December that is why chicken prices now increase because the supplier may be reserving chicken stocks for December. For sure, suppliers know that chicken demand will increase," Budionagn said.
