Uy, Brillantes start reconciliation talks
By Ben O. Tesiorna

IF APO View Hotel triggered the gap between two Davao City officials to widen, this time the Apo View is site to the reconciliation talks between two officials from Compostela Valley.

Reports reaching Sun.Star Davao said Compostela Governor Arturo "Chiongkee" Uy and Monkayo Mayor Manuel "JunB" Brillantes Jr. met on September 8 at the Apo View Hotel.

In a telephone interview, Uy confirmed the meeting took place at the hotel. He said they talked for about two hours in the presence of Brigadier General Carlos Holganza of the Army's 1001st Brigade and Provincial Police Director Ronald dela Rosa.

Uy said they talked about many things including the formal reconciliation talks at the provincial capitol in Nabunturan.

The governor said he sensed genuine interest from Brillantes in pursuing the reconciliation, which Uy said is a good step.

"Kalmado naman sya. Interesado talaga sya sa reconciliation, nakikita ko. Mga two hours mahigit din kaming nag-usap. We are just building trust and confidence pa. I am optimistic naman," Uy said. (He was calm and interested in reconciliation. We talked for two hours.)

The two officials will again meet this week to map out details for their formal reconciliation talks next week in Nabunturan.

Just like Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte and Representative Prospero Nograles, the two politicians from Compostela Valley had not been in good terms for quite some time now.
