By Joy Romares-Sevilla

A TRICYCLE driver and a drunk landed in the hospital after the latter broke the windshield of the tricycle injuring the driver's eye and hurting himself as well, in Buhangin, Davao City on Tuesday.

Confined at the Davao Medical Center (DMC) were Samuel Malayas, 49, tricycle driver, a resident of Jerome Extension, and one Mark Anthony Gujeting, 24, of Watusi Street in Buhangin.

Malayas was driving his tricycle at around 5:30 p.m. when Gajeting smashed the tricycle windshield at the corner of Rosario Street in Buhangin.

"Nagpanaog daw og pasahero ning driver sa kanto Rosario ug kalit lang nitungha ang suspect, sa walay igong hinhungdan, gihapak og kusog ang salamin dapit sa driver (The tricycle driver stopped to let a passenger down at the corner of Rosario Street when the suspect just smashed the windshield on the side of the driver)," a security guard at the DMC said.

Malayas called the assistance of concerned citizens in the area after his left eye was hit with a piece of glass, while Gujeting was also later brought to the hospital after he suffered lacerations on his right hand.

It was not known whether Malayas will file charges against Gujeting for the damage on his tricycle and for the physical injury he incurred.
