Labor, RC-East reveal search for outstanding employer
By Carlo P. Mallo

THE Department of Labor and Employment-Southern Mindanao, together with the Rotary Club of East Davao, will be holding the first "Search for the 2007 Outstanding Employer and Employee in the Private Sector."

Dole Regional Director Ponciano Ligutom said the search is one way of strengthening and intensifying the employer-employee relationship in the private sector.

"This will improve productivity, increase efficiency, and promote strong employees morale," Ligutom said.

Ligutom added that the winning employer will receive a plaque of excellence while the winning employee will receive a plaque and P20,000 in cash.

For his part, Efren Elbanbuena, president of the Rotary Club of East Davao, said that the search is the first to be staged in the region. He added that by next year, he hopes that other Rotary Clubs in the region will also take part in the search.

"It is one way of recognizing the importance of the workers, and also giving recognition to the management sector which is compliant with labor standards," Elbanbuena added.

The criteria for the outstanding employee are as follows: 25 percent for work performance; 15 percent for impact of behavioral performance and character; 25 percent for leadership and integrity; 15 percent for social responsibility; and 20 percent for promotion of good labor and management relations.
