Thursday, September 20, 2007 Pacquiao to unravel new moves against Barrera
WHEN Manny Pacquiao leaves for the United States this Saturday, the Filipino boxing hero will be carrying along with him new weapons in his arsenal which he vows to unleash against Marco Antonio Barrera of Mexico when they square off for the second time on October 6 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Freddie Roach, Pacquiao's famed American trainer, said the new moves will surprise Barrera and will definitely tear him apart come fight night, which is scheduled at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino.
Pacquiao, the punching machine from General Santos City, did 12 rounds of sparring last Monday at the RWS Gym in Labangon, Cebu and was set to do another 12 rounds Wednesday.
The Filipino southpaw will spar for eight to 10 rounds on Friday morning before he and his entourage leave for Manila in the afternoon. Team Pacquiao is scheduled to leave for Los Angeles on Saturday.
Last Tuesday, Philboxing.com reported that Pacquiao jogged 10 kilometers in 40 minutes highlighted by a non-stop uphill climb at the Alta Vista Golf Course and Subdivision hills in Pardo.
Pacquiao jogged with brother Bobby, sparring partners David Rodela and Raymundo Beltran and marathoner Adonis Singson.
Roach said his ward is now in the homestretch of his training in Cebu in preparing for his rematch with Barrera, whom Pacquiao stopped in the 11th round the first time they met in November of 2003 in San Antonio, Texas.
The first encounter was at 126 lbs, but this time the two warriors will meet in a 12-round set at 130 lbs. or the super featherweight division. (CRAM)
