Bankerohan bridge closed from Sept. 23-24: Traffic group
By Grace L. Plata

THE Traffic Management Center (TMC) Thursday announced that Governor Generoso Bridge II will be closed to the public, motorists, and pedestrians alike from 8 p.m. of September 23 to 4 a.m. of September 24, thereby suggesting the use of Bolton Bridge as passage in and out of the city.

TMC Chief Celso Gempesaw, in Thursday's I-Speak forum at the City Hall, said the bridge will be closed as per request of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), adding that the Davao Light and Power Company (DLPC) will be doing some work at the area.

Gempesaw said DLPC will do transfer and repair of electrical wirings that are dangling or tangled to prevent electrocution of anyone who will be working in the vicinity and to ensure that there would no power fluctuations while work is ongoing.

"This may be considered as a prelude to the start of the construction proper of the Governor Generoso Bridge I," Gempesaw said.

The pre-war Governor Generoso Bridge 1 collapsed March this year but the construction of the new bridge has not yet started despite the constant lobbying of the City Government.
