Focus on cheap meds law rather than on ZTE: Nograles
By Ben O. Tesiorna

IF DAVAO City Representative (1st District) Prospero C. Nograles would have it, he'd rather that the congressmen focus on important laws like the pending bill for cheap medicines rather than feasting on the controversial multi-million ZTE broadband deal.

He said what Congress must do now is approve bills like the Cheap Medicine Law, which would be a fitting Christmas gift of the Congress for the Filipino people this December.

"We in Congress should stop talking about ZTE because it's already in the Supreme Court and the Ombudsman for decision. We will do more for our country by fast tracking the Cheap Medicine Law before our Christmas break to give our people a Merry Christmas," Nograles said.

Senate is now investigating the questionable national broadband network (NBN) deal between the Philippine government and the Chinese company ZTE.

Last Tuesday, Jose "Joey" de Venecia III testified before the Senate inquiry that no less than First Gentleman Jose Miguel "Mike" Arroyo bullied him to pull out from the bidding in favor of the ZTE Corporation.

The $329-million NBN deal was eventually awarded to China's ZTE.
