Saturday, September 22, 2007 Bangayan-Chavez tandem wins badminton doubles crown
NICO Bangayan and Vince Chavez pocketed the 21-35 years old men's doubles title in the recently concluded Ateneo Alumni Badminton Tournament at the Smashville courts over the weekend.
The Bangayan-Chavez pair beat the tandems of Ever Booc and Victor Gemar and Eric Ang and Agnes Atienza, who settled for second and third, respectively.
Clemente Estrella paired with Jeffrey Collado to rule the 36-above men's doubles event over runner-up Maribet Sibal-Marvin Matuguinas and third placer Winston-Tetet Quindoy.
In the women's 21-above event, Tonette dela Salde and Irene Longga emerged champion while Agnes Atienza and Myla Bartolome placed second.
Longga's tandem with Nica Bangayan came third.
The one-day tournament was organized by the Ateneo Alumni Batch'82 under president Randy Gamir and event chairman Clemente Gempesaw.
The winners received cash prizes and trophies during the awarding rites. (MLSA)
