He said his soldiers are focus in only one thing -- putting order and security in the country.
"These shenanigan destabilizers won't get any headway. Our soldiers can’t be fooled or cajoled to be used for political ambitions of some people. And we are busy with our jobs of putting order and security in our country," Luna said.
AFP Chief of Staff General Hermogenes Esperon earlier sounded the alarm on alleged coup plan of some politicians and disgruntled soldiers.
Last Friday, the military suspended or reassigned at least six junior officers suspected of recruiting soldiers for a coup attempt against the government.
Esperon said the latest plot was discovered after some of those targeted for recruitment reported to their superiors about the attempts. Further, he said no movement has been detected among military units, leading officials to believe the recruitment efforts have been unsuccessful.
The military also was looking at the possible involvement of politicians who may capitalize on a scandal linking government officials and President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo's husband to an allegedly overpriced broadband contract with a Chinese company.
In an interview here in Davao City Thursday, Senator Loi Ejercito however denied they are plotting to overthrow the Arroyo government.
Interior Secretary Ronaldo Puno also confirmed the fresh destabilization plot against the Arroyo administration.
Puno said the people behind the plot were the same personalities who were linked to previous destabilization attempts against the Arroyo administration. He said the instigators were using text messages to encourage troops to withdraw support for the Arroyo administration.
A battalion of the Special Operation Wing has already been dispatched to the military's national headquarters in Camp Aguinaldo .
The unit will serve as an augmentation force for the AFP-National Capital Region Command. The deployment is reportedly part of the military's preparation for possible attacks.
Esperon said the movement of the additional forces was also part of the military's operational exercises, testing how fast soldiers could be moved around in times of crisis.
