Korean scouts plan to hold activity here
By Ben O. Tesiorna

KOREAN visitors in Davao City keep pouring in despite the controversy surrounding the alleged smoking violations committed by some Korean nationals.

City Administrator Wendel Avisado said the Korean Scout Council is even planning to hold a scouting event here in Davao City to be attended by boy and girl scouts from Korea.

It was learned that representatives from the Korean Scout Council were in the city recently to check on the facilities it could offer for a scouting event.

Avisado said the Koreans have already surpassed the number of Japanese visitors in Davao City. He said more are coming to the city after learning about Davao's tourist attractions and strict adherence to law and order.

"There are about 500,000 Koreans who go out of their country every year to visit other countries like America, Europe, Asia and the Philippines," Avisado said.

The city official meanwhile reminded the foreigners to make it a point to follow laws and ordinances in the city to avoid any problem. Avisado said law-abiding Koreans far outnumber those who violate local laws.

He advised those who could not follow Philippine laws to better not come to the city at all.
