Holy Child dumps SPC; ACD topples St. Peter

GEAN Paredes sparked the Holy Child School of Davao College (HCSDC) Reds to a rousing 97-80 win over San Pedro College (SPC), 97-80, in the 5th Gaisano South (GS) Cup Basketball Tournament at the GS Citimall SkyGym Sunday.

Paredes scored game-high 27 points, issued one assist and grabbed four rebounds. He also had four steals in the college division 2 match.

Michael Puerto added 15 while Lester Normandia had 12 for the Reds, who posted their second win in the tournament sanctioned by the Basketball Association of the Philippines-Samahang Basketobol ng Pilipinas (BAP-SBP).

Robert Namuag led SPC with 18 points. It was his team's second loss thus far.
The Assumption College of Davao (ACD) thrashed St. Peter College of Toril (SPCT), 110-79, in junior division 2.

In cadets' category, the Holy Cross of Davao College (HCDC) edged Stella Maris Academy of Davao (Smad), 67-65, while Daniel R. Aguinaldo National High School (DRANHS) downed ACD, 82-78.

Tournament director Rico Jhone Biliran said games will resume on Thursday.
