ANDREI Dizon of Davao City bagged two titles at the close of the Head/Tuna Festival Age-Group Tennis Championships at the General Santos City capitol courts over the weekend.
Dizon hacked out a pulsating 7-5, 1-6, 10-6 win over Cotabato's Princeton Gerapusco to pocket the boys' 16-under crown.
Dizon, playing out of Ateneo de Davao University (AdDU), then scored a double kill after winning the 18-under title at the expense of Gerapusco again in yet another thriller, 6-4, 2-6, 10-3.
Another Davao bet, Lenelyn Milo, outlasted Samantha Changco for the girls' 12-under crown in the three-day competition sanctioned by the Philippine Tennis Association (Philta) under regional vice president Juanito "Titong" Cansino Jr.
Gerapusco's younger brother, Kurt, however, scored a twin kill of his own at the expense of Jeleardo Amazona and Aldwin Libaton.
Kurt crushed Amazona, 6-0, 6-2, in the boys 12-under finals then overcame Libaton, 6-3, 5-7, 10-8 in the boys' 14-under championship showdown.
Amazona rebounded from that defeat to capture the 10-under unisex plum after whipping Paolo Javier, 6-2, 6-4. Camille Zapatos likewise walloped Cindy Gerapusco, 7-6, 6-3.
Cindy fell anew at the hands of Digos bet Eloisa Collo, who beat Cindy, 4-6, 0-6 for the girls 16-under championship match.
Collo also came from behind to clinch the girls' 18-under crown by demolishing Allysa Callejo in a hard-fougth match, 0-6, 6-3, 11-9.
Cash prizes, trophies, and tennis equipment were awarded to the winners.
