Retanal pocketed the P1,500 cash prize while Diano settled for the runner-up purse of P1,000.
Richard Natividad, who earned 5.5 points, placed third in the seven-round Swiss System format chessfest that attracted 50 woodpushers. He received P500.
Retanal is also seeing action in the 6th Asian Individual Chess Side Event Chess Championship that opened Tuesday in Cebu City.
