Korean nat'l sued for resisting arrest
By Rhodamae M. Hernandez

THE City Prosecutor's Office has filed charges against a Korean national for allegedly resisting and disobeying a policeman.

Accused of resistance and disobedience of a person in authority was Bit Maru Han, 26, of Ladislawa Village in Buhangin.

City Prosecutor Shahruddin Roberto Sencio recommended the filing of charges based on the complaint of police officers Leo Caballero Tandog and Leandro Baquial Tutor of the Sta. Ana Police.

In their joint affidavit, Tandog and Tutor said they received a call at around 1:30 a.m. Tuesday from Central 911 requesting them to proceed to Fountain Place on Dacudao Avenue for a reported commotion.

Upon reaching the place, they saw two men arguing outside a parked taxicab.

As they parked nearby, one of the two men, who turned out to be the taxi driver, said the foreigner tried to grab the wheel from him when he insisted that the foreigner put out the cigarette he was smoking inside the taxi.

The two policemen said that when they approached the foreigner, later identified as Han, he was still smoking a cigarette.

When Tandog tried to explain that smoking is prohibited inside a public vehicle, Han shouted at him in Korean instead.

Tutor tried to intervene and explained to Han that they will just have to settle the altercation between him and the taxi driver, but Han was allegedly so rude and even pushed him. The suspect could have punched him had he not been quick enough to duck, Tutor said.

That was when they arrested Han.

Even at the Sta. Ana Police Precinct, Han was still putting up a fight and tried to attack Tutor.

Sencio recommended a bail bond of P2,000 for the respondent's temporary liberty.
