Earlier, the Army's 10th Infantry Division also awarded monetary reward to three New People's Army rebels for the high-powered firearms they surrendered to the authorities.
Major Gen. Ernesto Boac, 10th ID chief, awarded the checks to Edwin Macampao, 20 years old; Tata Takas, 18 years old; and Raymund Lupe Subla, 21 years old.
Macampao previously operated in Sarangani Province and was a member and team leader of Alpha 1st Squad, 2nd Platoon of Front Committee 71, Far South Mindanao Region.
He surrendered with him his caliber 14 rifle to the 66th Infantry Battalion last August 4, 2006. He received a check in the amount of P18,000.
Takas also operated in Sarangani and a former member and team leader of Bravo, 1st Squad, 2nd Platoon of Front Committee 71, Far South Mindanao Region. He surrendered together with Macampao his M16 rifle. He also received a check in the amount of P18,000.
Subla, on the other hand, operated in the areas of Agusan del Sur. He is a member and team leader of Team Primera "ABE", Sentro de Grabidad-34, Front Committee 34, Southern Mindanao Regional Command.
He voluntarily surrendered to the Charlie Company of the Army's 60th IB last September 17 in Barangay Bugdangan, Laak, Compostela Valley with one M-60 (general purpose machine gun), one M16 rifle, one rocket-propelled gun, one claymore mine, ammunition of a 40mm grenade launcher, medical paraphernalia, and subversive documents.
Subla surrendered because of a personal grudge with his leaders in Front Committee 34 and that he wanted to live a normal life.
Initially, Subla received a check in the amount of P30,000 for the M60 GPMG he surrendered.
