Duterte is back after operations
By Ben O. Tesiorna

DAVAO City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte is back in the city six days after he left for Manila for his acromioplasty operation.

Duterte arrived Wednesday evening, looking healthy, but wearing a sling on his left shoulder and a bandage on his right hand.

In an interview at the Davao International Airport shortly after his arrival, Duterte said he underwent operation on September 22 at St. Luke's Hospital. He said the actual operation lasted less than two hours.

Aside from being operated at his left shoulder, his right hand also underwent surgical operation.

He stayed at the hospital for five days before deciding to recuperate in Davao City.

"Gusto ko nang umuwi (I want to go home). Mamatay ako doon (I will die there). I want to recuperate in Davao City than in any other place," the city mayor said.

He said his physician, a certain Dr. Lim, is in the city and will be visiting him for a check-up.

Duterte said the doctor advised him to have at least 12 days of rest.

"After 7-12 days, pwede na daw ulit yung normal movement ng kamay ko (After 7-12 days, my arm can move normally). Sabi niya galawin ko lang daw palagi ang aking shoulder at kamay para masanay (He asked me to always move my shoulder and arm to bring back the feel)," he said.

The mayor said he is taking antibiotics and painkillers. He admitted feeling pain in his shoulder and hand.

When asked when he will be back at the City Hall, Duterte said he is supposed to return to office by October 11.

He said if the range of movement of his shoulder and arm will still be abnormal, then he just might extend his sick leave.
