Filipino golfers sizzle

THE Filipino golfers sizzled with three wins on Day two of the three-day Philippine-HongKong Seniors Team Challenge at the Rancho Palos Verdes Golf and Country Club.

Manoling Chan and Rolly Viray beat the pair of Mike Grimsdick and Ted Ling, while Seve Roxas-Chua and Richie Garcia outgunned Brian Hsu and Walter Kwong in scramble match Wednesday.

The only win posted by HongKong on second day was engineered by Joe Pethes and Terry Collins, who defeated the Filipino tandem of Iggy Clavecilla-Earl McCarthy.

The Tommy Manotoc-Jose Cojuangco against Don Moore and Ernie Evans was all square.

Earlier, Joe Marfori and Franscis Gaston outplayed Bertie To Jr. and Hugh Staunton to set the tone for the Philippines' charge on second day.

After two days, the Philippines is leading HongKong, 5.5 points to 4.5.
Single matches were still being played as of this writing Thursday.
