Allan Cantojos emerged champion after beating fellow 6.5 scorers NM Rogelio Verganio and Christopher Castellano via superior tiebreaks.

Cantojos earned 42 tiebreaks while runner-up Verganio got 39.5 and third-placer Castellano with 35. They shared the first three prizes to receive P12,000 each.

Retanal tallied six points along with Ferdinand Leysa, Richard Natividad and International Master (IM) Rico Mascariñas.

But the Malita pride bested them via the tiebreak. He made 37 points over Leysa's and Natividad's 36.5 and Mascariñas' 36.

Retanal recently won the 1st Barangay Ramos Cebu City Blitz Chess Tournament.

Malita Mayor Benjamin Bautista, former congressman Claude Bautista, Malita Chess Association president Jorge Alcoy, councilman Cecil Rabaya, John Arab and Gemma Fe Musa family made Retanal's participation to two Cebu tournaments possible. (MLSA)
