It's off to Vegas for Manny

AFTER a rigorous training that saw Manny Pacquiao pushing himself to the limit, the Filipino boxing sensation and his entourage will motor from Los Angeles to Las Vegas today for his final route before taking on Marco Antonio Barrera of Mexico for the second time.

"Handang-handa na po ako at papunta and Team Pacquiao sa Las Vegas bukas at doon ko na po ipagpatuloy at tatapusin ang aking ensayo (I'm ready and Team Pacquiao is going to Las Vegas tomorrow where I will have my final training)," Pacquiao said in a message to his Filipino fans and countrymen, and which was posted in the Philboxing.com website.

Pacquiao, trainers Freddie Roach and Buboy Fernandez and the rest of his entourage, together with Manila-based scribes, will travel for hour hours along a desert oasis en route to Sin City.

Pacquiao did most of his training regimen in Cebu before flying to Los Angeles for the final phase of his sparring sessions.

The rematch with Barrera is set on Oct. 6 at the Mandalay Bay Hotel and Casino.

But, prior to the final trip, Roach will have Pacquiao work one more time at the Wild Card Gym starting at 12 noon Monday (Tuesday Manila time). Pacquiao and his group will then travel to Las Vegas at around 4 p.m.

Pacquiao, the punching machien from General Santos City, annihilated Barrera via an 11th-round TKO in November of 2003 and is heavily favored to crush the Mexican warrior anew. (CRAM)
