Wednesday, October 03, 2007 Defective products, most common complaint By Carlo P. Mallo
DEFECTIVE products continue to be the primary complaint lodged by consumers before the Consumer Help Desk of the Department of Trade and Investment (DTI)-Southern Mindanao.
Refusal of storeowners to replace defective products is against the law.
According to Paciente Cubillos of DTI-Southern Mindanao, many of the complaints lodged against his office involve defective products that storeowners refuse to replace.
Complaints about defective products are but one of the various problems faced by the Consumer Help Desk of the DTI. Along with other problems of unfair trade practices, DTI aims to be able to prevent these at least during the celebration of the Consumers Welfare Month.
DTI will celebrate the Consumer Welfare Month for the entire month of October. The event holds the theme "Consumer Education and Information: Key to Consumer Empowerment."
One of the highlights of this month's celebration is the Consumer Fair 2007 at the atrium of the Gaisano Mall of Davao from October 4 to 6.
Another event to look forward to is the poster-making contest, which will be participated upon by 25 high schools from all over the city.
