PERHAPS to most people in Davao, Beach View Resort (BVR) will sound new, but this resort has been around for several years now, and is very popular among locals in Tagum City and its neighboring municipalities, and Compostela Valley as a prime beach destination in their area.
The three-hectare lot in Pindasan, Mabini was acquired by Alan Omandac whose family has a penchant for exploring beach resorts.
So, initially he created their private rest house, only to transform it later to a commercial beach resort in 1993 when people started coming in for a little R&R and were willing to pay for it.
The resort is endowed with a white sand beach front, and irresistibly cool waters good for swimming. There are century-old trees and mangroves scattered around the area, providing comfortable shade for the huts.
The venue is ideal for seminars (two spacious function halls at P1,500-P2,500) and family picnics (4 big pavilions at P800-P1,000), whether in large or small groups.
A fascinating lagoon surrounds the area, which is uncommon in other resorts. Huts, cottages, and tables along the shore cost anywhere from P450-P70.
Another remarkable attraction in BVR is a view of the white sand beauty, Kopiat Island, which is just a pump boat ride across from BVR. Its amazing coral reefs are perfect for underwater dipping or snorkeling.
BVR offers a 30-minute scenic island tour around the mangroves of Kopiat island via motorized pump boats at P10 to P15 per head.
BVR has amenities for the young ones too, like a playground for beach volleyball, videoke machines for the aspiring warblers, and a canteen for food and drinks. Apart from a wide and secure parking space, the bathrooms and restrooms are clean and are provided with unlimited natural spring water from its big reservoir).
BVR is strategically located along the coastal area of Purok Baybay, barangay Pindasan, in the municipality of Mabini, and province of Compostela Valley.
It takes an hour and a half drive from Davao City via private vehicle and only 30 minutes from Tagum City.
Public transportation plies the highway to and from the municipality of Mabini, including buses, jeepneys and habal-habal (motorcycles).
Entrance fees cost P20 for adults, P10 for children, and P50 per head for overnight charge and use of any cottage except for function halls.
