The visit is Teodoro's first after being appointed as defense chief several months ago.

He will be visiting the Eastern Mindanao Command (Eastmincom) headquarters inside the Panacan Naval Base this morning and will hold a press conference there.

Teodoro will also visit the headquarters of the Philippine Army's 10th Infantry Division.

Military officials in the region are however quick to deny that the visit is a loyalty check by the Arroyo administration.

Earlier, Eastmincom chief Lieutenant General Cardoso Luna assured that none of his men are involved in the alleged plot to overthrow the Arroyo government.

Teodoro's visit is said to be the first of a series of visits he will be doing of various unified commands all over the country.
