Duterte Agilas lays host to Landmaster
By Marianne Saberon-Abalayan

WILL former PBL player Wynsjohn Te prove to be the missing piece of the puzzle for Duterte Agilas-Goldstar Hardware when it plays host to Cebu Landmaster-Mandaue Friday in the 2007 Mindanao Visayas Basketball Association (MVBA) Second Conference at the Almendras Gym.

Game time is at 6 p.m. and admission is free to the public.

Te has been added to the Agilas' line-up in the all-important game following the home team's crushing defeat at the hands of defending champion M. Lhuillier Kwarta Padala last Sunday.

The Davao City-born Te, who played with the Jose Rizal University (JRU) Bombers in the NCAA and Harbour Centre in PBL, is a reliable outside gunner who makes a living in the perimeter area.

Te will be joined by Jonjon Gonzaga, Bob Ilanga and Eder John Saldua in the scoring department for the Agilas, while big men Eliazar Berami, Donald Delfin, Dave Sagad and Jun Tamayo will man the frontline.

Guard JR Atablanco, forwards Greggy Delica and Jeffrey Bajenting and center Moorice Mejorada are also in the team coached by former PBA player Dindo Pastor and managed by city sports coordinator Christopher "Bong" Go.

But the Agilas will be in for a tough battle since Landmaster parades a powerhouse line-up and remains the early favorite in the tournament.

Davao City native Mike Maningo of Tibungco and former Davao Eagles mainstays Bong Marata and Jan Montalbo with Jimwell Torion, Mark Yee, Harold Santa Cruz, Ian Saladaga and Christian Nicdao also in the roster of coach Jun Tan.

Completing them are Aldrin Ocanada, Aries Gloria and Rex Mangubat.

Tan's wards were to play MP Warriors-GenSan of Manny Pacquiao at the Digos City Stadium last night, while MLKP was battling Arthro Kontra Arthritis in Cebu City as of this writing Thursday.
