Oktoberfest bowlfest underway

KADAYAWAN champion City Engineer's Office (CEO) and the Hannah's Bowlers are among the heavy favorites in the 3rd Annual Oktoberfest Open Bowling Tournament 2007 which was scheduled to roll off Thursday night, at the Fairlanes Bowling Center.

Sunday Bowlers Club (SBC) president Emie Orteza bared this during the Davao Sportswriters Association (DSA) Forum at the Tower Inn Thursday.

Updates on the Kadayawan Festival 2007

Orteza said close to 30 teams are competing in the tournament including the Davao Auto Club, composed of young businessmen, that is fielding two teams in the bowlfest and the Dole Stanfilco.

"The Fairlanes management is organizing this event yearly as a way of thanking Dabawenyos for patronizing their establishment all these years," he said.

The meet, which stakes over P40,000 total cash prize, features the division A for government, non-government and private companies and division B for commercial teams.

The SBC chief said the champion teams will each receive P10,000 while the runners-up will go home with P6,000 each and third placers with P4,000 apiece.

Individual awards will also be given to the highest pinning, highest individual and team singles and doubles and elimination games top qualifiers.

Orteza said the elimination games will end on October 18 then the step-the-ladder championship round is set on October 20. (MLSA)
