He said, "DCSA president Deedee Gonzalez just confirmed the staging of the tournament for elementary, high school and college swimmers."

He said the entry fee for swimmers coming from the private school is P100 while P20 for those coming from the public school.

He quoted Gonzalez as saying that over-all champions in each category will receive trophies.

"This competition is a welcome news for local swimmers because it's been quite awhile that we haven't had a tournament here since the POC Festival event," he added.

The swimfest, sanctioned by the Philippine Amateur Swimming Association (Pasa), is backed up by the Sports Development Division of the City Mayor's Office (CMO) and Philippine Sports Commission (PSC).

Over 200 participants are expected to compete in the tournament with the Ateneo de Davao University, mostly bannered by Coastland Davao Swim Team (CDST) mainstays, as one of the heavy favorites. (MLSA)
