Davao City on alert again

DAVAO City has been placed on heightened alert after two bombs exploded in the urban areas of Kidapawan City last Friday.

Police refused to reveal the identity of the suspects that had been arrested.

Newly installed National Police Chief Avelino Razon and Eastern Mindanao Command Head General Cardozo Luna went to Kidapawan City last Saturday to oversee the investigation.

Security in key cities of Southern Mindanao and Central Mindanao were ordered tightened.

Checkpoints were immediately installed in and around Kidapawan City and neighboring cities to secure major thoroughfares.

At least two persons were reported killed while 27 others were wounded after two bombs exploded at about 7 p.m. Friday.

One bomb was placed in a multicab. The explosion occurred in front of the Imperial Building in the central business district of Kidapawan City. The second bomb exploded in front of the Sugni Super Store.

The military and police are currently conducting separate investigations on the incident.
