JOSE Maria College (JMC) woodpusher Rowelyn Joy Acedo topped the 6th Bamboo Monthly Age Group Under-14 Chess Championship held at the Ground Floor of Victoria Plaza.
Acedo defeated Montserrat School of Davao's Bernadas Isaac in the final round to sweep the five-round Swiss System format chessfest with a perfect score.
She bested Alvin Acas of Magallanes Elem.School, Clark kent Anabieza of Panabo National High School, Hannah Lacatan of F. Bangoy National High School, Sedney Concepcion of F. Bangoy National High School, Gerard Acedo of JMC, and Bernadas, who shared the second to seventh spots with four points each.
Gift certificates and trophies were awarded to the top three winners of the meet sponsored by Greenwich, Kokomimi, S1 Technologies, and Victoria Plaza Mall.
The Bamboo Store, owned by Chino Porras, and Ateneo De Davao High School Batch 1982 organized the tournament in coordination with the Blue Knight Chess Club and Davao City Sports Council, Inc.
