Police: No report on lady bomber plot
By Ben O. Tesiorna

TEXT messages circulate about a lady bomber who is on her way to Davao City to bomb vital installations and public places.

The police, however, said there is not enough basis to be alarmed.

Police Regional Office (PRO)-Southern Mindanao Director Andres Caro said they have no intelligence information about this report and that the text message circulating could have been based on past incidents when terrorist acts happened right after the celebration of Ramadhan by the Muslim world.

Caro cautioned the public not to easily believe such text messages and remain calm as he assured Dabawenyos that the police and military are always prepared to prevent terrorist attacks.

Eastern Mindanao Command Chief Cardoso Luna said whether the text messages are based on facts or fiction, the military has strengthened its security measures as Muslims end their Ramadhan celebration.

He said they specifically reinforced their checkpoints in and out of the city to deter terrorists.
