THE University of Mindanao (UM) swimmers and the Ateneo de Davao University (AdDU) cagers expect to pull off surprises in the 12th National University Games 2007 set on October 21 to 28.
"Our swimmers have been in serious training the past four months. We have spent P66,000 for their membership and fees at the Holiday Spa where they train," UM sports director Joaquin Sarabia said.
Sarabia said the UM tankers hauled 10 gold medals last year.
"We are hoping to win more golds this year. But we expect a stiffer competition in the Uni-Games this year. We are rooting on Haroon Cali, Shahani Navarro and his brother to lead the gold hunt for our team," he said during the Davao Sportswriters Association (DSA) Forum at the Tower Inn Thursday.
Ateneo sports coordinator Pochollo Elegino, on his part, said" "We are hoping and praying for a better campaign this year."
Ateneo is set to see action in men's volleyball, badminton, and basketball.
The Holy Cross of Davao College (HCDC) will also send entries in men's and women's vollyball, chess, table tennis and track and field. (MLSA)
