THE BIMP-Eaga Business Council (BEBC) identified nine projects that will be presented for technical assistance in the upcoming Bimp Investment Conference (Bimp-iCon) slated on October 22-23 at the Marco Polo Davao.
The projects are not only located in Davao City, but also in Palawan, Marawi City in Lanao del Sur, and in Cagayan de Oro City.
These are the establishment and operation of Mindanao virtual science and technology park; the biomass waste utilization project; and the forest for food and security project, all proposed in Davao City by the Record Foundation Inc., Development Academy of the Philippines, and Davao River Initiatives, respectively.
In Palawan City, on the other hand, the Palawan State University has proposed two projects: the development of Estrella Falls at Narra Palawan as Ecotourism spot in Southern Palawan and the establishment of charcoal fueled stove.
Meanwhile, the Food Processors Association of Northern Mindanao (Fopanomin) proposed the initiation of the consolidated Fopanomin forecast objectives 2007 to 2010. The project is planned in Cagayan de Oro City.
Likewise, the Mindanao State University in Marawi City, Lanao del Sur has proposed for the Biotechnology Cooperation Programme between MSU and the Universiti Malaysia Sabah for capacity enhancement of MSU for tissue culture of native trees and other plants for biodiversity conservation, environmental rehabilitation, and agri-business and industry.
The BEBC, on the other hand, named other two proposed projects, but did not identified as to where these projects will be developed.
These were the establishment of an integrated rubber-processing zone or runner city in Mindanao and the BIMP-Eaga SME Business Growth Initiative. These two projects were proposed by the University of Southern Mindanao and the Global Business Growth Initiatives, respectively.
The BEBC will not only present the proposed projects by its respective development partners and proponents during the Bimp-iCon, but the council will also present business interests under the natural resource development, tourism development, transport, infrastructure, and communication, SME development, and other sectors for business matching and arrangements with other related business interests.
