NEWCOMER DEEPER Life Church shocked defending champion Good Shepherd Church, 82-78, Saturday in the Inter-Church Basketball League (ICBL) Duterte Cup 16th Conference at the Davao City Recreation Center.
Deeper Life Church, headed by Pastor Dick Togonon, came from behind to pull off the upset win. The team trailed by eight points after the first quarter. Good Shepherd Church, led by Pastor Danilo Gomia, dictated the tempo early on but its defense collapsed down the stretch.
It was a sorry loss for the defending champion after losing game consecutive games in its first three outings.

In an earlier game, newcomer First Davao Missionary Baptist Church managed to enter the winning column after dumping fellow newcomer United Methodist Church, 72-68.
Moncito Quingco topscored for FDMBC with 14 points while UMC's Jasper del Rosario topscored for the losing team with 17.
FDMBC led by six points at the first canto 35-29.
Meanwhile, preparations are underway for the Second Inter-Church Basketball League National Tournament on October 27-31.
