Council to hold session Thursday

The body agreed to hold earlier its October 23 session to October 18 just before regular session's adjournment last Tuesday.

Updates on the Kadayawan Festival 2007

Floor Leader Bonifacio Militar proposed the move so that the councilors can prepare for the 15th BIMP-Eaga Senior Officials Meeting and 12th Ministerial Meeting set on October 22-28, 2007.

The 1st BIMP-EAGA Information and Communications Technology Conference and the 6th Mindanao ICT Congress will be jointly held on October 23-24 and the Davao Trade Expo is also set to be held within the same week.

As early as July 17, the City Council already passed a resolution that supported the 1st BIMP-Eaga Information and Communications Technology Conference and the 6th Mindanao ICT Congress.

The resolution also approved a budget allocation that will be used for the gala dinner for dignitaries and guests of the BIMP-Eaga during the opening of the conference.

Councilor Teresita Mata-Mara¤on, chair of the council ICT committee, said the event will further boost Davao City as the premier ICT destination choice and a haven for tourism, real estate, and agri-business.

Councilor Pilar Braga, who is part of the ICT Task Force, said supporting the event will put Davao City a step further into becoming the IT hub of Mindanao.

The ICT Task Force was created by virtue of an executive order issued by Duterte last year. It was tasked to come up with strategies to make the city an IT hub in Mindanao. (GLP)
