Wanted man killed in Tarragona shootout
By Rhodamae M. Hernandez

A MAN with pending warrant of arrest was killed in a shootout with the Tarragona Municipal Police while the latter were serving his arrest warrant last Wednesday.

Killed was Honey Boy Abdul, 26, a resident of Sitio Gmelina in Barangay Maganda, Tarragona, Davao Oriental.

Post your comments on the explosion at the Glorietta 2 mall in Makati City.

The arresting officers spotted the suspect driving a TMX motorcycle without plate number with a passenger riding with him.

When the policemen flagged the motorcycle down, Abdul instead pulled out a .45 caliber handgun and fired at the policemen. The policemen returned fire, killing him on the spot.

His passenger, who turned out to be incumbent Maganda barangay captain Augusto Antolin was also arrested for illegal possession of firearm and ammunition and violating the Commission on Elections (Comelec) gun ban.

A .45 caliber handgun with serial number 1938207 but without a license and four magazines were seized from Antolin.

"Iya man ning pag-umangkon si Abdul ug gihimo ni niyang driver sa pagpangampanya (Abdul is Antolin's nephew whom he employed as his driver in his campaign sorties)," Tarragona Chief Police Inspector Advincula Malintad said.
