By Joy Romares-Sevilla

THE chief of the Davao City Investment and Promotion Center (DCIPC) identified 10 reasons for entrepreneurs to invest in Davao City, saying that the city is much better than other metropolitan cities like Cebu and Manila.

Post your comments on the explosion at the Glorietta 2 mall in Makati City.

Roberto Teo, DCIPC chief, said Friday that aside from its strategic location, Davao City has a good weather condition, has excellent public utilities, has the presence of important institution, and was identified as one of the most peaceful cities not only in the Philippines, but in the world.

"Davao City is a typhoon-free city all year round, it has excellent public utilities like water, electricity and telecommunications, and it has important institutions like schools, universities, and hospitals," Teo said during his presentation on "Davao Investment Opportunies and Potential" at the Taiwan Technology and Investment Forum, Friday at the NCCC Mall of Davao.

Teo said the City Government is also proud to share to investors that Davao City is one of the most peaceful cities in the world, saying that people in Davao City are disciplined.

"Davao City has very few crime compared to Manila and Cebu, I can also say that Dabawenyos are the most disciplined people in the country, when our Mayor says "no smoking," that will be followed, or else if you are a foreigner, you will be deported," Teo explained.

Aside from this, Teo added that Davao City has a competitive cost of doing business, it produces skilled professionals and laborers, and it is considered as the fruit and food basket in Mindanao.

"The city is also investor-friendly, it has a center which provides free services if you wish to invest in the city, and lastly, it has a responsible local government which is positive on investments," Teo said.
