Monday, October 29, 2007 Neda introduces decision-making By Joy Romares-Sevilla
THE country's highest policy-making body, the National Economic and Development Authority (Neda) has introduced the Handbook for Mainstreaming Sustainable Development (SD) in Public Sector Decision-Making in Davao Region, Wednesday last week.
The handbook was presented to local government planners, regional agency planners, and heads of the non-government organizations in the region.
The handbook is formulated by Neda in coordination with the United Nations development program (UNDP). It is expected to enhance the understanding and capability of policymakers and planners in mainstreaming sustainable development in public sector decision-making specifically in planning, programming, and budgeting.
Neda 11 regional director Nicasio Angelo Agustin said that the handbook is a welcome addition to the planning tools and references the region has.
"Neda is hopeful that it will also serve as a guide for our development partners to lead them in their pursuit for a more sustainable development of the Davao Region," Agustin said.
