BAP-SBP to hold clinic

NATIONAL team coach Vincent "Chot" Reyes will conduct the BAP-Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas Basketball Coaches' Clinic on October 27 and 28 at the University of Mindanao (UM) Matina gym.

BAP-SBP regional director Regino "Boy" Cua said joining Reyes are Eric Altamirano and Matthew "Fritz" Gaston.

Post comments here on President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo's grant of pardon to former President Joseph Estrada.

Cua said six topics will be tackled in the two-day clinic including developing the coaching philosophy, creating the basketball program, basic strength and conditioning, fundamental skills, organizing the practices and mental aspect in basketball.

"BAP-SBP wants to make development of grassroots basketball be standardized, thus, the holding of the course," Cua told sportswriters Thursday at his office.

Cua said Gaisano South Cup participating team coaches are required to join the clinic. He had asked the Gaisano South (GS) Cup management through tournament director Rico Jhone Biliran to postpone the games set during the clinic days so the coaches can attend the course.

The clinic fee of P500 is pegged to defray the expenses for certificates, license and handouts.

Interested participants may inquire and book for reservations to National Coaches Commission regional head lawyer Manuel S. Nitorreda at the 2nd floor of Merco Building, Bolton-Rizal Streets or at telephone numbers (082) 227-6394 and 221-1511. (MLSA)
