The Rabat Rocamora Mati Central Elemtary School I was meanwhile awarded the Best in Street Performance. Best in Story Line Interpretation went to the Mati Polytechnic College.
Fourteen schools in the City of Mati competed in the street dancing competition that attracted visitors from all over the Davao Region.
A day after the Indak-Indak, Lanog Festival was held Saturday and was participated in by four schools from the City of Mati, San Isidro and Governor Generoso.
The Immaculate Heart of Mary Academy bested all the other participants to win the plum.
Aside from the competitions, the City Government also sponsored various entertainment shows in the three-day celebration.
The Sambuokan Festival was the brainchild of then Mayor Francisco Rabat who wanted to unite the people of Mati thru the festival thus the word Sambuokan that means unity.
From then on, Sambuokan Festival has already attracted thousands of local and foreign visitors every last week of October in time also for the Araw ng Mati celebration. The Department of Tourism has already recognized Sambuokan in their yearly calendar of activities.
Under the new leadership of Mayor Michelle Rabat, they promise to make Sambuokan more attractive in the following years.
