Bedol to serve 6 months in jail
By Carlo P. Mallo

WHEN Maguindanao provincial election supervisor Lintang Bedol went missing last week, talks were rife that he could have sought refuge once more in Davao City, just as he did before he was summoned to Congress earlier this year.

But intelligence sources told Sun.Star Davao there is no truth to the talks, so far.

The Police Regional Office-Southern Mindanao, however, does not discount the possibility of Bedol being in Davao City. "He could be hiding in Palawan, Davao, or anywhere," Major Querubin Manalang, PRO-Southern Mindanao spokesperson, said in an interview with Sun.Star Davao Monday.

Bedol was found guilty by the Commission on Elections (Comelec) for indirect contempt after he failed to attend the hearings called for by the commission, his refusal to submit written explanations of his absences, his unlawful possession of accountable election documents, and his outright disrespect for the authority of the electoral commission.

Bedol was to serve six months in jail and pay a fine of P1,000. Authorities, however, are clueless on his whereabouts.
