Slain rebel's body found in Paquibato
By Carlo P. Mallo

THE body of a communist rebel believed to have been killed in a gun battle with soldiers last month has been found in a hinterland sitio in Paquibato district last Friday.

The cadaver has been identified as that of one Rexan V. Abella also known as "Ka Dodong" of the Pulang Bagani Command under the leadership of Commander Parago or Leoncio Pitao. The military believes that Parago was also wounded in one of those encounters.

Reports from the military said Abella was a resident of Purok 2-a, Sitio Tagaytay, Barangay Mapula, Paquibato District.

Members of the 73rd Infantry Battalion are still on their way to retrieve the body and bring this to Abella's family and relatives.

The military encountered the New People's Army 13 times between October 21 and 24 in Paquibato. The military estimate that at least six rebels were killed in those gun battles.
