EIGHTH-seed Ralph Kevin Barte of Davao City blanked Patrick Arevalo, 6-0, 6-0, to enter the second round of the singles event in the ongoing 26th Philippine Columbian Association Open Tennis Championships at the Club's indoor courts.
Fellow Davao players Rollyto Litang and Mark Alcoseba joined forces to beat Jefferson Lee and Edu Manzano, 6-4, 4-6, 6-0, in the men's doubles event of the Philippine Tennis Association (Philta)-sanctioned meet.
Litang and Alcoseba advanced to the second round of the competition along with brothers Jomar and Joseph Arcilla who bested Jason Joaquin and Expedito Lim, Jr., 6-2, 4-6, 6-3.
The pairs of Jayson Benitez and Gabriel Gatchalian, Michael Basco and Chung Soo Han, Antonio Sagansay III and Hiroyuki Asakawa, Ivan Torrecampo and Johnwill Baldonado, Gabby Remigio and Dennis Sta. Cruz, Timothy Alcos and Martin Ramos, Irwin de Guzman and Ralph Barte and Ronald Joven and Rocky Paglalunan also entered the next round. (MLSA)
